In honor of all the tabbies I’ve ever loved…
Writer, Editor, Perpetual Curiosity Machine
Between my insatiable curiosity and graduating into a new recession with each degree I collected, my professional life resembles the fabled life of a cat. I have been a school counselor, a teacher, a bookseller, a health education writer, and an editor. I have also been an office manager, a content manager, and a household logistics manager. Suffice it to say that I’m good with details and I love a good story.
I am a writer of young adult fantasy, and a passionate reader of fantasy and romance books. I love a clever turn of phrase, unique worlds, wounded characters who help each other heal, and slow-burn romances. I hate passion-at-first-sight passed off as true love without any further character development and worlds that require pages of exposition. A book should be like a croissant: layers of character growth, world-building, and plot all rolled up together. Yes, even if the croissant is gluten free.
I’m an American who has lived in the Netherlands for most of the last three years. I was diagnosed with celiac disease just a few months before we made the move, so most of my Dutch focuses around food ingredients and cooking. I am actively working toward mastering Dutch verb tenses so I can carry on better conversations. I also speak some French.
My hobbies include watercolor painting, photography, plotting how to visit gluten free bakeries all over Europe, and petting cats. (I like dogs, too, but cats tend to find me and stay.)
In addition to writing my own books for publication, I am available to hire for:
- Health writing
- Travel and immigration writing
- Copy editing
- Developmental editing
